The EN 14126 standard specifies the requirements and test methods for reusable and limited use protective clothing providing protection against infective agents. The protective clothing tested based on this standard guarantees resistance against biologically contaminated liquid penetration (penetration of germs in the wet state).
The special requirements for the materials of protective clothing against infective agents guarantee protection of the skin of the wearer from possible contact with biological substances and help to prevent the proliferation of germs. The biological hazard pictogram is applied on protective suits certified based on the above-mentioned standard.
The EN 14126 standard includes the following tests for the material of the protective clothing: Penetration test using synthetic blood (ISO/FDIS 11603); Resistance to penetration by viruses (ISO/FDIS 16604); Resistance to penetration by bacteria (ISO/DIS 22610); Resistance to penetration by biologically contaminated aerosols (ISO/DIS 22611); Resistance to penetration by contaminated dust (ISO/DIS 22612).
