The EN 362 standard specifies the safety requirements and test methods for connectors used for working activities with the risk of fall from a height. By connectors we mean harnesses, anchoring devices, ropes, snap hooks specifically used for work, therefore by workers who must access places (walls, scaffolds, various machinery) featuring a falling hazard.
The certification standards of materials that can be used in this field are entrusted to the technical committee TC 160 entitled "Personal protective equipment against falls from a height". This means that the connectors for occupational use must mandatorily bear a marking that guarantees CE EN 362 certification.
A particularity of this standard is that the snap hooks must mandatorily have an opening method with at least two actions. This means that the same snap hooks that only have the lever, without other safety measures, cannot be certified for occupational use and bear the EN 362 marking.
The snap hooks that meet the requirements of the EN 362 standard are further classified based on their specific type of use:
Class A: Anchoring connectors.
Class B: Basic connectors.
Class M: Multipurpose connectors.
Class Q: Screw link connectors (quick links).
Class T: Terminal connectors.
