The glove is a PPE – personal protective equipment protecting the hand and its parts. The glove could also cover part of the forearm and of the arm. Standard EN 421 specifies the requirements and test methods for gloves that protect against ionising radiation and radioactive contamination.
The standard applies to gloves that provide hand and shoulder protection, gloves fitted in permanent containment pouches and intermediate sleeves used between gloves and permanent containment pouches. The requirements of this European standard do not apply to gloves that protect against X-ray radiation.
